The Exodus

The record of the Israelite nation breaking free from four centuries of slavery in Egypt is one of the most fascinating stories chronicled in the Bible.  Orchestrated by God and led by Moses, this event and subsequent journey to Canaan, called The Exodus, provides the basis for most of the first five books of Old Testament writings.  God gave these people land on which to build a nation and laws on which to form a civil and religious society.  These laws, or covenant, established a relationship with God had at its core the Ten Commandments.  It is through the rich history of God dealing with the Israelites that we understand the New Testament and salvation through Jesus Christ.

John 1:17 states, "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

Because He Lives

"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!"
(Chorus from song Because He Lives by Bill and Gloria Gaither)

Ephesians 6:10 states, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might."

We serve a God that is alive!  His resurrection grants us the power we need to live a life that is free from the bondage of Sin.  His Holy Spirit provides us power to be confident in the way God works in our lives.   I pray that everyone embraces this resurrection power and allows it to work in their lives every day of the year.

Hosanna in the highest

Matthew 21: 8-9 says, "And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.  And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."

This week marks the celebration of Christ’s triumphant entrance into Jerusalem.  The people in Jerusalem were clearly excited to see their savior.  Do you have a savior?  Do you need a savior?

John 3:16 states, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Jesus Christ was sent by God to be our savior and just like those in Jerusalem, we can experience a triumphant entrance of Christ in our lives through his Holy Spirit.  Then we can declare “Hosanna in the highest!!"

Are You Broken?

Are you broken?  Are you allowing God to make you?

Jesus tells us in Matthew 21:44, "And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder."  The "stone" is Jesus.  When we choose a selfish path, it will destroy our lives.  If we choose to be broken and fall on the stone, we can find a victorious life.

Jesus also tells us in Matthew 16:25-26, "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

Choose to be broken, choose to have abundant life through Christ Jesus.
