Emmanuel - God with Us

Matthew 1:23 (KJV) “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV) “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

How can God be with us? What does this mean in our lives? We can each one have God with us, dwelling in us through the Holy Ghost. In abiding with us, God creates something totally different out of our lives. Where bitterness, strife, and emptiness may have once been in our heart as a result of sin, with the Glory of God abiding in our heart, we can walk with Him, keep His commandments, and have peace and contentment.

The greatest gift has already been given by God. Are you willing to open the gift, to open your heart?

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)

"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

It is the will of God that we should give Him thanks in every situation of life, in adversity as well as prosperity. It is in times of adversity that our thanksgiving to God will strengthen our witness for Christ and amplify the power of God to those around us. When we take time to examine our lives and take notice of all the blessings of God, it produces a thankful heart. However, sometimes we may find ourselves in a situation where we fail to see any benefit or positive outcome. Even in these circumstances we can still give thanks to God because we trust Paul’s words in Romans 8:28 (KJV): “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Matthew 11:15 (KJV)

"He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

Jesus Christ was greatest teacher this world has ever known. He imparted wisdom to His disciples and others in many ways covering all sorts of subjects. He spoke in parables and taught with authority everywhere He went. On many occasions those He attempted to teach simply did not believe. Others were too busy or were not willing to listen.

The question must be asked. Is Jesus still seeking to teach mankind even though it has been many years since He walked earth? The answer of course is Yes! Jesus Christ is ready to impart wisdom to whoever will humble themselves and be willing to simply "listen". This week please think about where you stand with our Savior and are you ready to "hear" his voice of wisdom.

James 1:5 (KJV) "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

This fact alone should give us all great comfort and assurance that no matter what changes may occur around us God will never change.  His love and compassion for us is always the same. It is constant.  His character cannot be shaken and His kingdom is everlasting and will endure forever.  If you haven't trusted Christ to be your Savior, there is no time like today to fully give Him your heart and life!  Put your trust in an unchanging Savior!

James 1:17 (KJV)  "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

Freedom

We love to sing about FREEDOM found in Christ Jesus in songs such as:

Glorious Freedom” by Alfred Judson
“I’m Free” by William and Gloria Gaither
“I’m Free Again” by Rev. Vesphew Benton Ellis
“Ring the Bells of Freedom” by Captain Casey

What is freedom? According to Webster’s Dictionary, freedom is not under the control or power of another; having liberty. The Apostle Paul states in Romans 7, "for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I". "It is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me". Paul later expounds that there is full deliverance from the bondage of sin through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What are we to do with this Glorious Freedom? Galatians 5:1 states, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” St. John 8:36 reads, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Enjoy freedom found in Jesus Christ today!
