A Testimony for God

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony." Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

When we are Sanctified, or have the Spirit of the Lord in our hearts, we have a testimony of what God has done and is doing for us in our lives. What does it mean to have a testimony for God, whether it is a one on one conversation or in a public setting like a church service?

Many of us are shy or slow to reveal something as personal as the details of our relationship with God, but perhaps there is a responsibility to share our testimony of what God had done for us. Jesus said in Matthew 10: 19-20, to "take no thought on how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you". With the Holy Spirit, we are not alone in sharing our experience.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

When the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom, the old covenant was done away and our access to God changed. The Levitical priesthood was replaced as Jesus Christ became the mediator of the new covenant and our high priest. Our relationship is directly with Jesus.

We are instructed to study the Word, that was made flesh and dwelt among us (St. John 1: 1-14), but we also are ministers. 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 states, "Not that we are sufficient to think anything of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament."

When we read Ephesians 4:1, "I therefore the prisoner of the Lord beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you were called," it challenges me as an individual to examine myself as a minister. Not that my actions will be sufficient, but is my life and study of His Word sufficient for a minister?

Jeremiah 18:6

This past weekend our congregation dedicated all of it's time and effort to the youth of our church. The weekend was filled with "Christ-centered" activities, bible study, and church services geared towards uplifting and strengthening the youth of our church. The theme of the weekend was "let a Christ-like spirit everywhere be found," which was truly the was a wonderful weekend!

To end the weekend, Sunday morning's service included a special song written by the attending youth and a spirit-filled sermon by Sister Claire Simons from Martinez, Ga. The subject of her sermon was "yielding yourself to God," was directed to the young people, but was appropriate for all ages. The key scripture of her sermon is found in Jeremiah 18:6...O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. God can only shape our lives if we remain "pliable" clay in His hands, so He can make our lives a vessel that will honor Him!

What a great sermon and wonderful weekend! Gob Bless!

1 Peter 3:8

We serve a compassionate God who is gracious, and who extends great mercy and forgiveness towards all mankind. God expects us to likewise show compassion and kindness to our fellow man as we walk the road of life.

1 Peter 3:8 "Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous..."

Freedom in Jesus Christ

As we celebrate Memorial Day, may we all stop and truly appreciate the many freedoms and liberties we enjoy in our great nation.  This way of life we enjoy was not won without a price.  Many have given the ultimate sacrifice that we may live in peace and freedom.  One of those freedoms is to worship and serve the Lord Jesus Christ without the threat of a hostile government.  All of us have the freedom to read the Holy Bible, attend church, pray, and spread the good news of salvation.  What a blessing!

The many freedoms we enjoy by living in the United States are wonderful!  However, there are many who live in this great country yet are still in bondage to sin.  So the good news on this Memorial Day is that Jesus Christ has paid the price for our redemption from sin by giving his life on the cross.  Although I am very thankful to those who have won our countries freedom, I am most thankful for Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he gave that we all can be truly free!

Have a great week and pray for all those who protect our country!
