St. John 15: 12-14 (KJV)  "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you."

There truly is no greater love than the love that Jesus Christ showed when he gave his life on the cross of Calvary.  This sacrifice was given so that each one of us could be filled with God's love. Today, let God's love rule in your heart and mind.

In God Alone

Psalms 91:2 " I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust."

St. John 14: 27 " Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

There are situations in life that arise, in which no comfort can be found, but in God alone.  Open your heart to Him and let Him be your shelter and peace.

Comfort in Sorrow

As followers of Jesus Christ, isn’t it wonderful that in the midst of our times of sorrow, loss, and pain that we can feel the gentle comfort of our Saviour.  In every situation of life Jesus can strengthen, re-assure, encourage, and send divine assistance to help us make it through. He invites us to cast all of our care upon Him because he cares for us.

“What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and grief to bear,

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer…”

Matthew 7:12 (KJV)

“Small deeds done are better than great deeds dreamed” (from a sermon by Sister Nancy Collier). Put the love of Christ into action this week…a seemingly small deed of kindness done in Jesus’s name can have eternal impact on that person’s life.

Matthew 7:12 (KJV) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do you even so to them…

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! As you set personal goals for 2012 remember to include spiritual goals as well. Resolve to read your Bible everyday and to faithfully attend Church services and activities…resolve to arrive 10 minutes ahead of time in 2012….spend more time in prayer with God this new year…maybe start a Card Ministry….visit and take food to the sick or shut-ins…start a personal Phone or E-mail ministry….support a Homeless Shelter…if you are a retiree, volunteer at the Hospital or Soup Kitchen, etc…..

There is much that can be done in our daily lives to enrich the lives of those around us.  We receive blessings as we do them.

Think and pray about what God would have you to do in 2012.

Matthew 10: 42 (KJV) “And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water….he shall in no wise lose his reward”.
