Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)

Isaiah 7:14 states, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.”  People seem to have more trouble believing in the virgin birth than any other part of the Christmas story, but it is an essential part of God’s perfect plan of redemption for all mankind.

The sin nature has been passed down to all people from generation to generation because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden when God told them not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil or they would spiritually die.  Romans 5:12 states, “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.”

Scripture teaches that Jesus was fully human, with a physical body like ours, which he received from Mary. At the same time, Jesus was fully God, with an eternal, sinless nature.  We read in John 1:14, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Jesus was not born as a normal man with the “Sin Nature” already in his heart and soul.  Hebrews 7:26  states, “For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”  The Virgin Birth circumvented the transmission of the sin nature and allowed the eternal God to become a perfect man.  As stated in Romans 5:17, “ For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” and Romans 5:19, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

When God comes into our hearts, and we are sanctified, his spirit allows us to take on the sinless nature of God.  We become the true children of God.  In Romans 8:17 it states, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;”  This was the Purpose of Jesus Christ and why the Virgin birth was so important.

Luke 2: 10-11 (KJV)

"And the angel said until them, Fear not:  for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."  Luke 2:10-11 (KJV)

Psalm 106:1 (KJV)

There are many things God brings to our lives when we decide to love and serve Him.  One is a "thankful" heart.  This sense of gratitude is what brings satisfaction and peace.  It is what makes a house a home, a meal a feast, and a stranger a friend.  God is pleased with the spirit of thankfulness!

Psalm 106:1 states, "Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."

Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)

I love this time of year!  It is a time set aside to reflect and be thankful for how much we are richly blessed.  Counting our blessings is truly a way to stay positive and realize how much Jesus Christ loves us.  He is a wonderful and merciful Savior!

"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."  Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)

Luke 14: 12-14 (KJV)

Jesus Christ was very plain in his teaching and His words were always backed by His actions.  The following scripture is one example of how Jesus wants us to serve others.  I pray our words would always be backed by our actions.

Luke 14: 12-14 states, “Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.  But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
