Luke 18:1 (KJV)

“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;” - Luke 18:1

The lesson of this parable recorded in Luke 18:1-8 is clearly revealed in the first verse.  We ought to be steadfast in our prayer life.  We should not become discouraged or quit praying if our prayers are not immediately answered.  Unlike the unjust judge mentioned in this parable, our God is a righteous judge and is pleased with our effectual, fervent, and continual prayer.  If the unjust judge was ultimately responsive to this widow’s continual requests, how much more should we trust the righteous judge to be responsive to the continual spiritual requests of His faithful servants?

“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried : he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.” - 2 Samuel 22:31

“Pray without ceasing.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” - Philippians 4:6

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” - James 1:6

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” - Psalm 84:11

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap , if we faint not.” - Galatians 6:9
