Ephesians 6:13 (KJV)

"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."  Ephesians 6:13

As each year broadens our experiences in life, the more I realize that we need every piece of the armour of God.  Our adversary, the devil, will stop at nothing in his attempts to rob us of our salvation and if any part of our spiritual man becomes exposed, he will target it immediately.  Satan is not picky about what or who he uses in his attempts to discourage and defeat us.  Our diligence in maintaining the protection of our spiritual man and making sure that no part is exposed is crucial in our journey through this life toward heaven.

When is the evil day?  It is any day of temptation or severe affliction.

As you read about the various pieces of the armour of God, you will notice that they are all defensive in nature except for one.  The sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God) is the only offensive piece of the armour of God, and it is the only offensive weapon that we need.  As I encounter the expected and unexpected challenges of life, I find that the word of God has the answer for all of them.  In every condition of life, God’s word will guide, nourish, encourage, and strengthen us.  Through this one offensive piece of the armour of God we can secure victory over our adversary and live victoriously every day.  Let’s esteem the word of God more than our necessary food.

Thankfully, God has designed an armour that will protect us from dangers seen and unseen.  It is our job to put it on, keep it on, and use it (every piece).  God would not have created it if we were not going to need it.
