Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

According to the scripture, David was a man after God's own heart.  In his early life we understand David killing the lion and the bear while keeping his father's sheep.  He also killed Goliath to rescue the armies of the living God.  The common knowledge of the day was Saul had killed his thousands, but David his ten thousands.  Even while spending most of his early life fleeing Saul, David showed mercy to God's anointed multiple times.  In addition, David exacted righteous judgement on those that brought tidings and claimed to participated in Saul's death.....but then the story of David moves on to the sin with Bathsheba and a fairly awful life with this children that followed.

Is there a bigger story here?  No one else in the scripture is called a man after God's own heart, what happened?  When we bring David's entire life into focus, maybe there is an allegory between his life that is explained in other scriptures.  It seems that when the Lord provided David's glory, he prospered, but once he became king it seems the glory of man became deceitful.

Paul made some observations in II Corianthian 12:9, he said, "Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."  I Peter 1:24 says "all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.  The grass withereth, and flower thereof falleth away".  Luke 6:26 says "Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets."  Matthew 6:33 states,  "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
