The Cross

The icon of a cross adorns the steeple of churches worldwide; it is portrayed in works of art, worn on ecclesiastical clothing, stamped on Bibles and hymnals, and is the most recognized symbol of Christianity. Being nailed to a wooden cross was used to execute a criminal in a slow, degrading, and painful death.  Why then do we hold up the cross as a sacred emblem of our faith?   Because if you KNOW Christ, it is personal!

In the old rugged cross
Stained with blood so divine
A wondrous beauty I see
For twas on that old cross
Jesus suffered and died
To pardon and sanctify me

Hebrews 9: 13-14, "For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:  How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
