Victory

In 2 Peter 3:1-7 we read, "This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:   Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

Consider this for a moment, if we are not serving God, then history as it was taught when I was in school, is just that.  The world is still simply moving and evolving from day to day just as it has since God created man.  Sure there are advancements and the world changes, but the sun still rises and sets, rain comes and goes, people continue to be born and pass on, and man generally still wallows in its depravity.  If we choose to see the life we live this way, how hollow and unfulfilling it can be.  There is a promise of something greater, a deliverance from the world and its toil and drama.  There is a promise of life that is more rich and fulfilling than the goods of this world can ever provide.

Christ tells us in John 10:10 that he came to this earth that we might have life, and that we might have it more abundantly.  While God did not seem to change the world, he provided a way that the hearts of those in the world can be changed if we submit our lives to him.  He promised victory over sin, death, and the world if we will give our lives completely over to him.

I Corinthians 15:53-58 states, "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

The question is, Have you allowed God to change you, have you found victory in this life?  If not, you can!  Submit your life to Christ and allow him to change you and show you what living life is all about.
