Seeking God

Jeremiah 29:13 states, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

In Matthew 13:45-46 we read, "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it."

In today's world there are endless recommendations made by man for finding God. Over the years thousands of books, countless seminars and teachings, and a multitude ideas and approaches have been espoused. Even though man's ideas are complicated and diverse, the true approach to finding God is simple and unchanging. The bible clearly teaches that you must seek him with "all of our heart"!

Have a blessed week!

Galatians 5:13-14 (KJV)

“Every genuine expression of love grows out of a consistent and total surrender to God” - Martin Luther King Jr.

True love comes as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit given by God to those who are Sanctified.  When we demonstrate that love to our neighbors, it shines a light in a very dark world.

Galations 5:13-14 states, "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

Luke 6:47-49 (KJV)

Without a solid foundation it is impossible to weather the storms of life.  We have to dig deep when establishing our relationship with Christ the solid rock.  We do this by listening to God and doing what he asks.

Luke 6:47-49 says, "Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:  He is like a man which built an house , and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehmently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.  But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great."

2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)

With the start of a brand new year, many folks are evaluating their lives and resolving to make improvements for 2016.  This evaluation is a healthy process if one is truly honest with themselves.  Whether these improvements are associated with diet, exercise, or setting a budget; this type evaluation can lead to improvements that can be life changing.

The Bible does teach us to examine ourselves, but in a little different way than looking at things from a physical viewpoint.  According to 2 Corinthians 13:5 we are to, "Examine ourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves.  Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"   This single verse challenges us all to look within ourselves and to make sure Jesus Christ is abiding in our hearts in lives.  Another verse found in 2 Peter 1:10 says, "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure:  for if you do these things, ye shall never fall."

I pray this week your New Year's resolutions start with the spiritual side of life and that you all will have a safe and Happy New Year!

Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)

Isaiah 7:14 states, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.”  People seem to have more trouble believing in the virgin birth than any other part of the Christmas story, but it is an essential part of God’s perfect plan of redemption for all mankind.

The sin nature has been passed down to all people from generation to generation because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden when God told them not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil or they would spiritually die.  Romans 5:12 states, “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.”

Scripture teaches that Jesus was fully human, with a physical body like ours, which he received from Mary. At the same time, Jesus was fully God, with an eternal, sinless nature.  We read in John 1:14, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Jesus was not born as a normal man with the “Sin Nature” already in his heart and soul.  Hebrews 7:26  states, “For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”  The Virgin Birth circumvented the transmission of the sin nature and allowed the eternal God to become a perfect man.  As stated in Romans 5:17, “ For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” and Romans 5:19, “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

When God comes into our hearts, and we are sanctified, his spirit allows us to take on the sinless nature of God.  We become the true children of God.  In Romans 8:17 it states, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;”  This was the Purpose of Jesus Christ and why the Virgin birth was so important.
