2 Corinthianas 4:7 (KJV)
November 21, 2017, 10:38 AM

2 Corinthians 4:7 states, "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

The Apostle Paul speaks about “this treasure” that is in us which is the gift of sanctification (Holy Spirit).  He refers to us as earthen vessels which contain this spiritual treasure that goes with us from day to day.  He uses the reference of earthen vessels to relate it to the clay that the potter molds and makes into beautiful vessels. During that time after the clay jars were finished valuable documents were placed in the jars for safe keeping.  So, he relates that to the Spirit of God that is in these temporary vessels.

He also talks about the power that is of God and not of us and reminds us that we must depend solely on Him.  Through full dependency on God we realize that we walk by faith and not by sight letting His Holy Spirit direct our steps.  I ask you this week consider what you treasure and know that you can have “this treasure” which is the Holy Spirit living in your heart!  Jesus said it best in Luke 12:34... For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
