Ezekiel 34:11 (KJV)

Ezekiel 34:11 states, "For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out."

I had a thought this week from reading in Ezekiel when the Lord speaks as a shepherd speaking to his sheep. The analogy of the Lord being our shepherd and we are his sheep is interwoven throughout the scripture. One point I wanted to bring out is the part in the verse where it says "will both search my sheep, and seek them out.”

The beauty of the Gospel is we are not deserving of the glorious gift of forgiveness and sanctification, and we have done nothing to merit his favor, but the Lord seeks us out and calls us by name. He cares for each and every one of his sheep. It is mentioned in the gospels where he leaves the ninety-nine to find that one. The love that he has for us is unconditional, which was demonstrated at the death on the cross. The Lord never gives up on us, but is calling and pleading that we turn to Him. He is desiring for us to have a relationship with Him. That is the love of Christ.

If you don't know the Lord take the time in prayer to call on the Lord because He is looking to answer your call. Don’t feel you are unworthy or too far out in sin for Him to sanctify you. As the scripture says in the New Testament, “The son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost". It is His will that none should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Love and prayers,

Matt Collins
