Judges 7 (KJV)

God doesn’t always work the way we expect. In Judges chapter 7, we learn the story of Gideon’s faith in God and, as a result, his victory over the Midianites.

To prepare for battle, Gideon raised an army of 32,000 men. Through God’s specific instruction, Gideon trimmed his army down from 32,000 men to only 300.

It is easy to imagine those 300 men were doing everything they could to be ready for battle – cleaning weapons and armor, sharpening swords, checking armor straps, and carefully preparing in every way that they could. But God’s strategy didn’t require any weapons or armor. Gideon and his men followed God’s plan precisely, and the end result was a resounding victory for the Lord.

Every day we fight the devil. It can be easy to lose sight of what God does for us, but the battle is the Lord’s if we will let him fight for us. Our worldly preparations mean little unless we have also prepared our hearts and minds with faith and God’s love. How are you preparing today?

Sis. Demi Arceneaux
