Luke 24: 49 (KJV)

After the crucifixion, Jesus appears to his disciples, and the last thing that He says to them is “Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Luke 24:49

Consider this: because Jerusalem was home to the temple, with the Holiest of Holies and the Mercy Seat, Jesus basically told them to stay as close as possible to the presence of God. They had done all they could do at the time, and all that was left for them was to wait on God to complete His work in their lives.

This is good advice for us today. No matter our current circumstances, there comes a time for us to wait on God. It is up to us as that time to do everything in our power to remain close to God, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically – a place where He can continue to work with us and for us.

“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalms 27:14
