Malachi 4:2 (KJV)

Malachi 4:2 states “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”  Webster’s 1828 dictionary states “In good men, the fear of God is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view and real love of the divine character, leading the subjects of it to hate and shun every thing that can offend such a holy being, and inclining them to aim at perfect obedience.”  As I think about this prophecy of Jesus, found in Malachi and the definition of the fear of God, provided by Noah Webster, my mind is drawn to the words of two familiar hymns:

“Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved.” Amazing Grace by John Newton

“Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings, to every captive soul a full deliverance brings.” The Comforter Has Come by Frank Bottome
