Preach

In Mark 16:15, Jesus told his disciples, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”  What is the Gospel? The Gospel is the good news of faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ to salvation for every person in the world. The Word of God teaches that salvation is obtained by two separate and distinct works. First, we must be forgiven by God for the sins we have committed and second, we must be sanctified by the power of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit gives us the power to live a life pleasing to God and keeps us from the sin that is in the world.

What does it mean to preach? We sometimes equate the word “preach” with a pulpit practice, but the definition of “preach” is to proclaim. Everything we do at home, at the work place, and in our day to day lives can proclaim the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every one of us has a testimony of what God has done for us and in our lives; we only need to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through us.

Romans 10:14 states, "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

In Henry J. Zelley's song, Bless Me Lord And Make Me A Blessing, we read:

“I do not ask to choose my path.
Lord, lead me in Thy way;
Inspire each thought, and prompt each word,
And make me a blessing today.”
