The Lord is still watching the Treasury

.…but this is far different than a contribution reminder.  Mark 12:41-44 says, "And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.  And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.  And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:  for all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."

This passage could have many interpretations, but perhaps everyone agrees that Jesus was looking at the completeness of the contribution or sacrifice and not the amount.  The scriptures record not the amount of the contribution of the rich, but to tell us how small this poor widow’s contribution was, so that we could focus on the 100% she contributed (all that she had).

While the example is the financial contribution to the treasury, the point is much broader.  He wants all our heart, soul, mind and strength.  Matthew 22:37 says “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

I believe this contribution/sacrifice still applies when we deny our self, when we make time to worship during church times, when a brother or sister needs encouragement or whatsoever our hands find to do.   James 4:17 is unrestricted,  “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”..…and we don’t want to hold back any part of that contribution.

In Acts 5: 1-5 we read, "But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.  But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?  Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.  And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things."

With a willing, humble heart in service to the Lord, the blessing will come.  Lastly, 1Cor 3:7-14 states, "So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.  Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.  For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.  According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;  every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.  If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward."
