Sunday is the victorious conclusion of the celebration of Jesus’ death and resurrection.  Recounting this event, the Apostle Luke wrote in the Book of Acts the following:

"And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.  But God raised him from the dead:"  Acts 13:28–30
Just as He had told His disciples earlier, Jesus had risen from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.   What hope we have today in the Holy Spirit.  The eternal God, that created the universe and raised Jesus from the dead, can be a part of our life and give us the power to live pleasing to God. This is the true miracle of Easter!
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."  Romans 8:11
"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."  Ephesians 3:14–21

Jesus Christ - Burden Bearer

As we approach the Easter Season, I am reminded of the special and truly unique burden that Christ carried all of His life.  This burden was the knowledge that one day He would bear the weight of all Sin and that He would give His life as a sacrifice for all of mankind by dying a cruel, shameful, and painful death.  We can only imagine how He felt as this knowledge was ever in His mind and heart.

This week as you consider your own unique and special burdens, remember that you are not alone.  Jesus Christ completely understands your case and will help you.  He wants us to have faith to understand that His sacrifice has won victory for you!

Have a great week,

Bro. Mike Merritt

Colossians 3:12-13 (KJV)

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."  Colossians 3:12-13 (KJV)

2 Timothy 2: 19-21 (KJV)

"Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. [20] But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. [21] If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work."  2 Timothy 2 19-21 (KJV)

2 Timothy 3: 14-15 (KJV)

"But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."  2 Timothy 3:14-15
