Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Do your days seem long and your results meager? The Holy Scriptures encourages us to “not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Move forward in faith today.

God's Compassion

Are you thankful for God’s compassion? What if the Prodigal Son had returned to an angry, vengeful father who wanted nothing to do with his errant son again? This father would have been justified to make his wasteful child a servant with few privileges in the household. However, he happily restored him as a son with all the authority and privileges he had enjoyed before his wicked departure.

St. Luke 15:20 "And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."

God’s compassion is the same today!

Thanksgiving and Gratitude

We are blessed to have each day that we have. I am reminded of this when I observe how quickly life progresses along. The attitude I have toward God for the gift of life should be one of thanksgiving:

Psalms 100: 1-5 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

I should also have an attitude of gratitude toward my fellow man and especially those who are shoulder to shoulder with me in the battle for my God:

1 Thessalonians 1: 2-4 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

Let us all be mindful to have hearts filled with thankfulness.

Liberty

It is during the month of July in particular that we recall the word “liberty", particularly the “liberty” that was won so our country could be free from British authority.  This “Liberty” allowed a new country to be born; relieving its citizens from oppression and granting individual rights and freedoms in this great nation.

A similarity can be drawn with our spiritual man.  There is spiritual “Liberty” that is obtained through salvation by the grace of Jesus Christ!  Jesus can free the soul from the greatest bondage ever known to mankind which is the bondage of sin.

In the book to the Galatians of the new testament the Apostle Paul writes:

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.(Gal 5:1 KJV)

We must understand that while we have freedom in Christ, there is also great responsibility in doing our best to maintain this freedom.  We have the duty of honoring God with all of our “heart” as we navigate through life.  We should not act careless but always remember Jesus’ great sacrifice for us and always live for Him.  The warning here is our freedom can be lost by entangling ourselves again with the yoke of bondage.

Paul goes on to write:

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.(Gal 5:13 KJV)

Let us remember now and always the bondage we have been called from and the care and diligence required to maintain the liberty we enjoy, both in this nation and in the service to our savior.

John 16:7 (KJV)

John 16:7 states, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you."

Luke 24:49 reads, "And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."

While Christ was on earth he patiently worked with his disciples to explain to them a simple truth about his purpose. He reiterated many times that He would not always be with them in the flesh but would abide with them forever by His Spirit living in their hearts. After heeding Jesus instruction not to leave Jerusalem after His resurrection, the disciples and many others waited in an upper room and received the “Promise” of his Holy Spirit as detailed in the second chapter of the Book of Acts.

This experience of receiving the Holy Spirit can be yours today. You must first make a decision you want to serve the Lord above anything and repent. Once you have truly forsaken your sins and repented you are ready to receive his Spirit. By simply asking in faith and totally committing your life to him, He will send His Holy spirit into your heart and life to abide with you forever. Give Jesus Christ a chance and trust Him today. You will be forever changed!

Have a great week!
